"Thursday's Child"

This is the story of Thursday...
We woke up to a beautiful winter wonderland. Looking out our back door let us know we should spend the day indoors. It was amazing, but since the kids are recovering from colds we decided to bunker down indoors and have some good old fashion fun.

We played lots of games.

We did lots of arts and crafts.

We even drank hot cocoa while we sat in front of the fire place.
And so the story continues...
By dinner the kids were worn out and tired. Ian has been in a 'testing mom' phase lately so when I asked him to stop with his bad table manners he decided to do it once more while looking at me just to see what I would do. So what am I to do? I picked him up and took him up to his room. He really doesn't like this to happen so he was upset and started with his normal tantrum...kicking the door, yelling and carrying on. But tonight there was a little extra commotion coming from his room. Glenn had been working in his office upstairs and went in to see what was going on, only to find that Ian had pulled his mattress off the bed, had it leaning up against the furniture and was hitting it and jumping on it. So, Glenn told Ian to sit in his rocking chair and then proceeded to remove from his room his entire bed, bed frame and all.

Well this made Ian even more distraught. He cried so hard he thought he'd never be able to stop. He eventually called me up to his room, still crying, to apologize with out being coached by anyone to do so. So, we gave him back his bed and comforted him for a while. In no time he was back to his normal happy self, playing and wrestling with dad.

Hopefully it's a lesson learned. We'll have to wait and see if he stops the bad table manners the first time I ask next time, because I'm sure there will be a next time.
Ahhh, the joys of being four. Ahhh, the joys of parenting.

Some day, way down the road, I hope our kids see the fun in documenting ALL the parts of their lives. The good, the bad and the ugly. It provides a good laugh for us, and maybe for you, and hopefully some day it will for them too.
