Grandma and Grandpa bought Ian a new pet for his birthday. He has wanted a hermit crab for a while...ever since Grandma planted the idea in his head :) So, a few weeks before his birthday they took him to the pet store to pick out his new hermit crabs. This one is named Big Claw (because of his big claw) and they other one is named Shelly (because he/she lives in a shell).
Big Claw immediately pinched Ian when we got home. I guess he wanted him to know how he felt after being plucked from his home, experiencing a jostling car ride home and being played with in the middle of his night.
Ian loves watching, playing, cleaning and feeding his crabs. Hopefully this will last a long time, as hermit crabs can live for up to 20 years in captivity!
Drew didn't want to be left out of the fun, so he talked Grandma and Grandpa into getting him a fish. So far, so good. Besides being overfed some days and underfed on others, I think "Fishy" is enjoying his new home as well.
