Tuesday--Just another day

During the last week, since we've been home from my brother's wedding, my dear sweet sister has left me several messages...on my blog, on face book, on IM, and text message, etc, asking, begging, pleading for me to post the wedding pictures I took (which you can now find in my April Album on the side bar). I told her it's not like I'm just sitting at home eating bon bons and watching soaps all day. So, on Tuesday I decided to take a few pictures so that she would have an idea why the pictures took so long to post.
Here is a day in the life of a mom. Which is a pretty good representation of many days.

Tuesday morning started off a little earlier than normal. Drew woke up at 6:00 AM. I got him out of bed at 6:30. After getting dressed I decided to start making breakfast. Skinny pancakes. A very thin pancake batter is blended in the blender. Since Drew loves to cook with me he was at the counter helping. When I turned around to plug in the griddle, Drew knocked over the blender. Five cups of batter spilled out into the stove top. I guess it could have been worse...at least it was contained.

After we cleaned that mess up, we remade the batter and finished the pancakes.

Since I had spent the previous evening making home made strawberry freezer jam, I still had quite a mess to clean up from the night before. Here are my messy counters that needed to be cleaned up and washed after the dishwasher was emptied.

While we ate breakfast I noticed Drew sticking his hand down the front of his shirt. I had left the butter too close to him and he was shoving handfuls of butter down his shirt and rubbing it in.

Later in the day, after lunch, Drew got down from his seat and decorated the back door, rug and wall with his remaining yogurt.

He did all that beautiful decorating while I was cleaning up the lunch mess. Yup, don't forget about making and cleaning up (at least) three meals a day.

Then I went back to trying to remove the lovely barf stain my poor doggy made on the carpet the prior day. (He is forgiven since he was in pain.) Glenn made time to take him to the Vet Tuesday morning and got him some doggy pain killer for his "wrenched" back.

Okay, so this picture doesn't really show it, but it is messy and it's already his third out fit of the day. This means LOTS of laundry is piling up.

I also needed to make time to stop Ian from drawing on himself, yes again, today. And clean it off. At least this time it was washable purple marker. I don't know why my kids insist on turning themselves into a work of art on such a regular basis.

Then there are the exploding art projects...

which my wonderful husband helped pick up while I took the kids to Karate that evening, after dropping off Ian's friend/playdate, whom we had over after swimming lessons and baths earlier in the day.

I also, somehow, found time to put away all the Easter decorations...

But, Glenn helped me clean up the toys that were strewn around the house...

and playroom.
So, now you can see, why the pictures weren't posted last week. And you now might also know that if I'm posting a blog entry, I'm probably leaving a mess sitting somewhere in my house that I should be cleaning...right now.
