Last year Aunt Shannon gave us some cookie cutters for making our own gingerbread houses. So we started from scratch and had a great time building some pretty elaborate houses. Of course, the kids thought they were building wonderful edible treasures, and mom though they were creating amazing Christmas decorations to enjoy only with the eyes. (But we did make lots of extra gingerbread to eat...I just didn't want them eating all the candy decorations.) It was a daily battle to keep the houses uneaten until we finally left for Salt Lake City leaving the houses for Santa and his reindeer to eat.
Perhaps next year we'll start with a few ground rules :)
