A smoothie a day...
...keeps the food fights away.
Every morning I fix a smoothie for the kids. They drink about 10-12 ounces and they love it. I use to beg and plead and bribe and otherwise fight with Ian to get him to eat his fruits and veggies, but not anymore. I think I've been doing this every day for at least a year now. Drew will still eat as many fruits and vegetables as I can put in front of him, but as for Ian this is all he'll do, and it's fine with me. At least there is no more fighting at meal time, well...at least not about eating his veggies.
Here is the basic recipe. Sometimes there are additions or exceptions but you get the idea.
2-3 cups of water (You can use less if you use more fresh fruit rather than frozen)
3-4 oz orange juice concentrate
1 carrot
1 big handful of spinach (about 1 cup)
1 cup frozen blueberries
1 cup fresh or frozen strawberries
1 1/2 cups other frozen fruit (I like the Spectrum blend from Costco. It has peaches, honeydew, pineapple, blueberries, strawberries)
And whatever else happens to be sitting around...a handful of grapes, an apple, 1/2 a banana, etc.
Blend in a very strong blender, and voila, you have an instant cure for a food fight!
